A taste of Texas was brought in to Anacortes September 16th to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of The Plaza Group. President Randy Velarde and Business Director Mark DeGuerre from The Plaza Group joined Tom Smith of Shell Oil Products and about 35 employees who enjoyed a Texas-style barbeque lunch to mark the event, ‘topped off’ with 10th anniversary hats given by The Plaza Group to all employees. Despite rain, the management team, including Mike Lytton, Kurt Kolmos, Dave Gruber, and Steve Ledbetter, enjoyed playing golf at Eaglemont Country Club followed by dinner at Il Granio.
Earlier this year, The Plaza Group signed an exclusive multi-year agreement valued at $56 million with Shell Oil Products US, extending their long-standing business relationship with the Anacortes facility. In addition to acquiring the product for marketing purposes, The Plaza Group will manage the fleet and coordinate logistics of delivering to customers in the U.S., Asia and Europe.
“This new agreement signifies our continuing relationship with the Anacortes facility. This year The Plaza Group celebrated its 10-year anniversary, and we have been involved with the nonene produced at the Anacortes facility since day one, ” said Randy Velarde, The Plaza Group’s president. Mark DeGuerre, Nonene Business Director at The Plaza Group concurred, saying, “We continue to value this business under our new, expanded arrangement. It is definitely one of the cornerstones of our nonene business.” The nonene produced at the facility is used to manufacture ethoxylated alcohol and versatic acids, among other applications.
TPG President Randy Velarde reflects on the company’s evolution over the past 10 years, saying, “The Plaza Group’s niche in the chemical industry is truly unique, allowing us to serve as an outside marketing department for our suppliers and a trusted business consultant to our clients. No one else in the industry does outsourcing -from either end – quite like we do.”
